A note on cannon degradation
I'll start this off by saying, please tell me if I'm off the mark, as I'd like this to be a consensus and a message to the devs.

Cannon degradation is not necessarily a 'bad' idea. I believe your implementation of it needs work. The sentiment behind it, I assume, is a balancing choice to ensure the most impactful item(s) in the game are not flooded into the game's 'marketplace' (saying trading is winning/losing said cannons in fights, going from one inventory to the next)
That sentiment is valid and I believe there does need to be some form of it implemented to ensure the longevity of the game. Otherwise, new players will come in and lose fights to people with giant walkers, gucci ass gear, and crazy cannons, and immediately uninstall.
However, this is a balancing act between making 'getting' these cannons feel worth it, and not a one-time-use they just spent 2+ hours surviving in storm dives for. As it stands now, with your current idea of implementation, people would achieve god-tier cannons, use them in a single fight and there's a good chance they'd be pristine or less. While you get some crafting material when it breaks, which is not something I'd care about mid fight. Then having to take that material back in to get the experimentals again, just makes way too much time invested/risk to reward. I personally wouldn't even bother.
\---
The way to fix this and implement it correctly, in my opinion, is a multi-faceted approach where you can get better gear and better cannons in multiple ways. You can do this via 'quests' like the colored keys, or turning in specific items, etc. You can also do this by implementing more difficult and challenging AI to fight, with a small chance to get something good. You can do this by forcing the player to accumulate a lot of resources. There's a ton of ways, a lot of which you've already implemented.
Now, since you have many approaches to gathering said gear and cannons, you do exactly the same to get rid of them. You increase the sell value of the cannons to make it more worth to sell them in certain cases for permanent upgrades like in the tech tree, or even require them for the tech tree. You make quests to turn them in for more interesting rewards, or situational items for players that like to make sure all their bases are covered.
You can DO cannon degradation, but it has to be worth using, owning, and gathering said cannons. Say an experimental 80mm, they don't go through rounds as quick as a 40mm so let's say you get 1000 'shots' or uses on it, then it breaks. When it breaks it can then be sold at half price, or turned in for a pristine, etc. Obviously, you guys have the stats, so you can balance these things appropriately, I'm just throwing numbers out there. But, making people straight up lose the cannon when someone shoots two rounds of 80mm into it is crazy.
Most games just create a sink for items and currency, but only having a tech tree for that when you don't have wipes or a prestige system, people are gonna mow through that tech tree very quickly. Realistically, you just need a proper sink to dump these items and currency into.
As it stands right now, I think you guys should do 'wipes' until you have the proper systems implemented, and surround each wipe around bigger content updates. Updates that would change the way the game is played.
\---
TLDR: Cannon degradation is a step in the right direction, but it's a bit more complicated than just cannons that break mid-combat have a chance of being lost and degraded into cannons that aren't as good. This makes the player feel like there's no point in using anything good in 90% of their runs and just a waste of time trying to get the best items in the game. To hit the mark, you need to add currency and cannon/gear sinks that still fulfill the players' feeling of achievement and progress, but sink the total amount of 'good gear' and cannons in the game as a whole. The way to do that is to add new content in the game that requires these things for permanent account upgrades, or single use items that can turn the tide of a fight. (anti-smokes, other counter measures, tons of things can be added that'd be worth turning in an extra experimental for) There should be a lot of interesting 'trades' in the shop, or quests that do that as well. Lots of ways this can be implemented.

1 engagementsNew project gun- NM Blackhawk in 357 mag.
I’ve always wanted a custom single action and this will be what I build it on.
Early 70s NM Blackhawk in 357 mag( no I don’t care if you think it’s “too much gun” or “not spicy enough). The front sight was bent to the left, fixed that temporarily by heating and bending it back to square(ish).
My plan over time is to do an action job (including a free spin pawl), refinish the ejector rod housing, replace the sights with some from Ferman Garza, and fit some stocks (I’m thinking a good walnut).

1 engagementsBCNU nurse strike
For anyone upset that your union/profession is getting affected by the nurses strike, I really do feel for you and I appreciate all the support. But I hope you understand something: the extra workload you’re picking up right now because of reduced capacity/ staffing? That’s just our normal. Every single shift.
Nurses get handed everyone else’s leftover workload because someone has to, and it’s always us. It’s so normalized nobody even notices anymore. Others can easily say “let me grab the nurse” and walk out of the room. We get dumped with SO much responsibility, for no extra pay, and it’s just… expected. Our list of responsibilities and duties are stacking up, as well as the number patients but no compensation or support ever. And if something goes wrong because of unsafe ratios that were never even in our control? Somehow still our fault.
We haven’t gone on strike in over 20 years. This isn’t just about wages, even though we’re underpaid and deserve more. This is life or death. This is about fighting for what we deserve. This is about safety for us AND the public. We are exhausted, sacrificing our own mental and physical health to take care of everyone else’s.
So please be patient with us. All healthcare workers deserve better, I’m not saying otherwise. But this strike is about nurses.
