URGENT ADVICE NEEDED I have 2 observerships options in August. One is in University Of Maryland Medical Centre in Transplant Surgery (inpatient observership) which has a residency program but I couldn’t find a spot in IM and the second is in Decatur Memorial Hospital in Cardiology which doesn’t have a residency program. I have done 2 observerships so far, one was outpatient in Newyork in Endocrinology and one is in HCA Houston Healthcare in Pulmonology and Critical Care (Inpatient + Outpatient). My question is, should I go to Maryland in August or Illinois? I have ease of accommodation and transport in Maryland due to family and I also plan to take my step 3 before September so it would be easier to take it where I have my own living. And maybe if I go there and talk to the medicine faculty, I might secure an observership??? What would be a better choice at the moment? My concern is that Transplant Surgery wouldn’t be coherent with my whole profile so would that be a problem on my CV?

Motorcycle Pursuit Ends with K-9 Apprehension Near Loop 494 Near Kingwood A motorcycle pursuit Wednesday night ended with a suspect reportedly being found beneath a mobile home near West Heritage and Oak Lane. According to information provided, troopers attempted to stop a motorcycle around 10 PM on I-69 near FM 1485. The driver allegedly fled onto Loop 494 before crashing in a curve near Oak Lane and running from the scene on foot. Approximately 50 officers were reportedly working in the area as part of a task force led by Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden. About an hour later, a Montgomery County Precinct 4 K-9 located the suspect, identified as Hunter Wayne-Douglas Harston, hiding beneath a mobile home. Harston was taken to HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood for treatment following the K-9 apprehension and was later booked into the Montgomery County Jail on an evading arrest charge. Officials reportedly said Harston was not wanted when the attempted traffic stop began, and the reason he allegedly fled remains unclear. The account also noted previous incidents in 2025 in which Harston was accused of fleeing law enforcement. An arrest and charge are allegations, and the case will proceed through the legal process.

Escaped Liberty County Inmate Captured in Washington After Kingwood Hospital Escape Yorlan Rafael Reyes, the Liberty County inmate who escaped custody while receiving treatment at HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood, has been apprehended in Mukilteo, Washington. According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, members of the U.S. Marshals Service located Reyes around 4:30 PM on August 5th. Reyes had reportedly been working in construction while staying in the Washington area. Investigators said Reyes escaped from the Kingwood hospital during the early morning hours of July 18th. Authorities later developed information indicating he had traveled through Cleveland and the Houston area before allegedly receiving assistance reaching the Seattle area. Reyes now faces an additional Escape charge. Investigators are also reviewing allegations that he sent threatening messages to women in Texas while in Washington, including messages involving their juvenile daughters. Additional charges could be filed. Arrangements are being made to return Reyes to the appropriate jurisdiction. Charges and allegations are not proof of guilt, and the case will proceed through the legal process.

Liberty County Jailer Fired After Inmate Escapes from Kingwood Hospital The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office has terminated a jail correctional officer following an internal investigation into the July 18th escape of inmate Yorlan Rafael Reyes from HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood. According to LCSO, Reyes, 31, escaped custody around 5:30 AM while being supervised by a Liberty County Jail correctional officer at the hospital. The sheriff’s office said the correctional officer was placed on administrative suspension after the escape. Following an internal review, investigators reportedly determined the six-year jail employee violated multiple jail policies during the transport and supervision of Reyes, leading to the employee’s termination. The search for Reyes remains active. LCSO said multiple agencies are assisting, including the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Anyone who sees Reyes or has information about his whereabouts should call 911 immediately.
